Committee Focus Areas
Focus of Missouri State University’s JED Committee
JED Committee Sub-Committees
In order to implement recommendations provided by JED Campus, the MSU JED Committee formed subcommittees, including:
Communication
The Communication subgroup is charged with coordinating communicating around Missouri State University’s JED Campus work. This includes campus communication, website maintenance, and recommending a plan to promote social connectedness and overall community health and wellness.
Mental Health Training
The Training subgroup is charged with reviewing existing gatekeeper trainings offered to faculty, staff and students and in making recommendations for enhancements. They organize the “You Can Help A Student” and “You Can Help A Friend” trainings offered to the campus community.
Data Analysis
This workgroup supports the overall success of the initiative by providing data support to each of the workgroups. They are also identifying on-going data needs and creating data snapshots to help identify gaps in services.
Marginalized Populations
This workgroup is tasked with identifying challenges and finding opportunities for providing mental health services and resources to MSU students from underrepresented groups.
Life Skills
The Life Skills sub-committee is focused on implementing education and development of life skills to assist in students’ mental health within already established areas of education.
Alternative Counseling
This sub-committee has been tasked with identifying creative and effective methods to provide mental health services outside of the traditional counseling methods.
